What if you wakeup someday and found yourself in a place where you are all alone. I mean into the world without humans. Sounds scary, Isn’t it? It reminds me ‘Zombieland’ movie.
But that was just a movie with well-made sets. But let me tell you there are places in this world that are haunting and abandoned for people.
10 Mirny Diamond Mine – Eastern Siberia, Russia
Mirmy diamond mind is the second largest hole in the earth. It was constructed by Stalin to satisfy the Soviet Union’s demand of industrial diamond. When it became too difficult to dig deeper, the whole project got eventually abandoned.
9 Farmhouse – Seneca Lake, New York
This abandoned farmhouse is in New York State and now is agraveyard of vintage cars which are nothing more than the empty shells. This reminds me of place of ‘Man Eaters’- ‘Wrong Turn– Movie’.
8 Willard Asylum – Willard, New York
Willard Asylum was built in 1869 and close in 1995. What makes it the most creepy place and cause of its shut down is that more than half of the 50,000 patients died within its walls.
7 Disney’s Discovery Island – Lake Buena Vista, Florida
This indeed a beautiful place but abandoned because of a rumor that island has human killing bacteria in the surrounding water. Which movie matched the most, its “Cabin Fever“.
6 Canfranc Rail Station, Spain
This rail station in Spain was a part of inetrnational rail route between Spain and France. But in 1970 an accident destroyed a nearby bridge that eventaully unlink the route and left this beautiful abandoned.
5 Chateau Miranda – Celles, Belgium
This castle was used as an orphanage during and after the World War II. This castle is abandoned since the family aws refused to allow the authorities to take care the castle. And because of its haunted history, this should be in your bucketlist if you love ghost hunting.
4 Eilean Donan – Loch Duich, Scotland
Eilean Donan is located in the western Highlands of Scotland. When it was restored in 1911 by a retired military family, a footbridge has connected the island to the mainland.
3 Abandoned Mill – Ontario, Canada
2 Christ of the Abyss – San Fruttuoso, Italy
This statue of Christ was built by Guido Galletti in 1954 and placed under water at a depth of 55 feet.
1 Wreck of the SS America – Fuerteventura, Canary Islands
This U.S. ocean liner retired and wrecked in 1994 after a service of 54 years.
